The St. George’s Chancel Guild is a group of faithful parishioners serve behind the scenes to help make services happen. They care for the various items used for Communion and keep them clean, in good condition, and ordered and set up the items in preparation for each service, including caring for the Presence Candle, Sacntuary Lamp, and candle for peace. They also pick up the fresh cut flowers from Foodland which adorn the altar during services, and make sure they are distriubted to those who may need, or appreiatcte, an uplifting colourful display in their space.
Additionally, they decorate seasonally to help brighten up the sancuary space during seasons of celebration. In the image above, they are transforming palm fronds into crosses for Palm Sunday; crosses which wil be returned nearly a year later and turned to ash which is placed on the forehead of service attendees during Ash Wednesday.
Please know that we would love to have additional parishioners join us in this important ministry. If you are curious about the role or how you might give it a try, please reach out to the church office.
