For more than twenty years, St. George’s has had a special relationship with Mexican parishioners who have come to work each harvesting year in the Blue Mountains, and, in more recent years, transitioned to employment on other parts of the Saugeens Region. Originally, these men were able to worship with us on Sundays. The Marion Icon, which hangs in our Sanctuary, was a gift from them to St. George’s to say thank-you for being their home church away from home.
We continue to give thanks for our relationship with these special parishioners that has spanned many years and pray for them and their families in 2026.
St. George's has played an important role in helping refugees who come to our community and in recent years assisted in the reunification of a family who origionally had to be separated as some members could not yet leave and travel to Canada.
