St. George's strives to care for Creation as it was entrusted ot us. We use rechargable batteries for things of wireless microphones, in addition to using a recharagble lighter rather than butane or matches. We also have a large compost bin for kitchen food scraps and yard waste. You may not know it, but the sink in the sacristy, the sacrarium, does not lead to the sewer system. Sacred substances, like crumbs from Communion, go down its drain so it leads directly to the earth. for that reason, we are particualrly careful to use biodegradable soap.
Pollinator Garden
2025 saw the installation of St. George’s new pollinator garden. Planting Native Pollinator gardens are a beautiful way to care for God's Creation. They provide food and shelter for a variety of pollinators (birds, bees and butterflies), essential for ecosystem stability. This ministry not only supports our local environment, but also allows for us to participate in the Town of teh Blue Mountains Pollinator Pathway Project, a network of similar gardens throughout the Blue Mountains. Our garden will be one of the stops along the tour!
